Biography
Pedro A. Jose completed his MD, magna cum laude, at the age of 22 years from The University of Santo Tomas, Philippines and his PhD from Georgetown University School at the age of 34 years. He received his training in Pediatric Nephrology and Cardiovascular Research from Georgetown University. He is Professor of Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. Dr. Jose and his associates discovered genes that cause high blood pressure when sodium intake is excessive and more importantly, genes that cause high blood pressure when sodium intake is too low. He has published >380 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute. Dr. Jose has received research awards, e.g., 2003 Lewis K. Dahl Memorial Lecture (American Heart Association), 2007 Ernest H. Starling Distinguished Lecture (American Physiological Society), and 2015 Excellence Award for Hypertension Research (American Heart Association).
